Gallery assistants are responsible for providing all around assistance in a gallery. They must ensure that all items and collection pieces are accounted for by tracking their acquisition and release.

 

Gallery assistants are also responsible for ensuring that exhibits are well coordinated, and act as a liaison between gallery patrons and management.

 

 

Typical Job Duties

• Open and close the gallery daily

• Ensure the cleanliness of the gallery at all times

• Receive artwork from different dealers or directly from artists

• Ensure the items are stored properly and accounted for upon their arrival

• Provide a proper display section for the artworks, making sure that there is enough space and measurement between each hanging artwork

• Ensure that gallery regulations concerning the proper care of gallery items are adhered to

• Assist in the planning and coordination of special exhibits

• Respond to inquiries from visitors and the general public
