Community and social service workers are responsible for the administration and implementation of a variety of community services and social assistance programs.

 

 

Typical Job Duties

• Conduct interviews with clients in order to obtain case history and background information

• Carefully assess the needs of clients

• Provide necessary support and assistance to clients

• Help client identify options and develop action plans

• Participate in the selection and admission of clients to appropriate assistance programs

• Maintain program statistics for evaluation purposes

• Assess the progression or regression of clients

• Provide crisis intervention and emergency shelter services

• Assist in the development and implementation of life skills workshops, substance abuse treatment programs and behaviour management programs
