Equal opportunities officers are responsible for devising, creating and implementing equal opportunities practices and policies, within the workplace, which oppose discrimination and reflect current legislation that relates to best workplace practices.

 

 

Typical Job Duties

• Maintain current knowledge and awareness of current general and workplace specific discrimination legislation

• Evaluate current equal opportunity monitoring schemes and propose amendments to management

• Provide other staff with advice pertaining equal opportunities legislation in relation to recruiting and training new staff

• Liaise with external equal opportunities organizations

• Research potential grant funding sources and application requirements

• Ensure that promotional opportunities are handled fairly

• Design and lead equal opportunities training courses

• Write job advertisements that target particular groups of candidates and arrange for their placement within various forms of media
