What Can I do with my Major?

Unsure of what career fields await after graduation? You're not alone. In fact, when I graduated from the University of Winnipeg with a major in Political Science, I thought the only career options I had were to become a Politician, or continue on to graduate studies. Disturbingly enough, many of my classmates found themselves with a similar lack of awareness. This is why we have created the new Career Fields section within Academicinvest.com. We have assembled a total database of 1,833 career titles, which apply to 93 different majors. The career fields range from Accounting Clerk, to Zoologist, and almost everything in between.

To make the most of this new feature, simply click on the Career Options tab, located on the navigational bar. This will allow you to enter your current or desired major into a search field, which will populate a list of results. For the time being we have left the career titles as simply that, although in the near future they will include salary ranges as well as short descriptions and a small list of main tasks pertaining to the job. If you enter your major and it doesn't exist within our database, please feel free to let us know at timhordo@academicinvest.com, and we will add it to the feature.

We feel that this feature will be a great tool for current and future students and hope that it will assist many in their quest to find the perfect career. After all, the 2nd most common reason why potential students do not enroll in post-secondary studies is because they don't feel that there will be suitable employment available upon graduation. While for now we can't do much about the labour market, we can show students that there are more potential options than they may have known about.
