Band Director Job Description

Band directors supervise and coordinate the activities of the band. The ultimate goal of the band director is to ensure that each participant gains a higher level of skill, self esteem and appreciation of band music.

 

 

Typical Job Duties

• Create and update band roster, attendance forms and eligibility records

• Enforce behavioural standards as imposed the school’s policies and procedures

• Supervise all band participants

• Manage band funds, including the management of fundraising efforts

• Oversee storage of equipment provided by the school

• Submit budget needs to school administrators

• Order necessary supplies and equipment

• Schedule band rehearsals and performances

• Instruct and mentor participants on an individual level when appropriate
