Information brokers research information on behalf of a business or other type of organization. They are commonly hired to research patents, copyright information or perform market research.

 

Businesses and other organizations who are looking to copyright a name or patent a product will often hire an information broker to perform the necessary research as to whether or not the copyright or patent is available.

 

 

Information Broker Job Duties

• Work with clients from various professions

• Obtain details pertaining to the copyright or patent that the client is interested in

• Research market surveys, business and government statistics, newspaper articles and any other type of relevant resources

• Prepare reports and presentations based on the findings of research

• Liaise with government agencies, legal professionals, patent agents and other relevant personnel

• Inform client as to the availability of the copyright or patent​
