Interpretive guides provide factual historic information during tours of museums, gallery exhibits and other historic or heritage sites. They may conduct tours or role play in order to present the information.

 

 

Typical Job Duties

• Research factual historic information relevant to the historical site, gallery or museum exhibit

• Welcome visitors and provide orientation information

• Interact with visitors and respond to any questions

• Monitor visitor activity and respond appropriately to emergency situations

• Assist with marketing and promotional activities

• Coordinate the efforts of volunteers, seasonal workers, interns and other personnel

• Develop, present and evaluate educational programming and demonstrations for the general public or particular audiences
