Dance Therapists plan, direct and coordinate medically approved dance recreation programs for patients recovering from physical or mental trauma.

 

 

Typical Job Duties

• Prepare and submit reports regarding the progress or regression of patients and their various reactions to certain programs

• Confer with members of treatment team to plan and evaluate therapy programs

• Encourage clients with special needs and circumstances to acquire new skills and get involved

• Obtain information from medical records and family members in order to assess their needs and capabilities

• Develop movements and routines that will assist in meeting the needs and objective of the patient

• Observe, analyze, and record patients' participation, reactions, and progress during dance sessions

• Modify treatment programs as needed
