Jeunes Mécènes Pour les Arts Grants

These grants were created on the initiative of Mécènes investis pour les arts in association with the Conseil des arts de Montréal. They exist to develop philanthropic activities supporting creativity in Montreal by encouraging activities for its development and growth. They are awarded to emerging artists, groups of artists, or artistic organizations organizations (individuals aged 40 or under, and organizations incorporated for no more than 7 years) for upcoming artistic creations.

 

The grant awarded serves to assist with the creation or production of an innovative work that will be influential on the career of its artist, their artistic discipline, or the public.

 

Mécènes investis pour les arts are a group of business people, each of whom privately donates $500 to participate in the creation of annual grants to award to artists, groups of artists, or artistic organizations working in Montreal on a not-for-profit basis. Other admissibility criteria relating to their status and professionalism apply. The project must also be recommended by an established organization that is supported by the Conseil des arts de Montréal.

Eligibility : 

This grant program is intended for individual artists, artist collectives, and non-profit organizations dedicated to the creation and production of works in the following disciplines:

• Circus arts

• Digital arts

• Visual arts

• Film and video

• Dance

• Literature, including cultural periodical publishing

• Music

• New artistic practices (including multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary projects)

• Theatre

• Street performance

 

All individual artists must meet the following requirements:

 

Legal status

• must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident;

• must be forty (40) years of age or under;

• must have resided on the Island of Montreal for at least one year.

 

Professionalism

• must be a recognized Professional artist

• must have at least one artistic achievement to his/her credit in a professional setting.
