Sexual abuse counselors are responsible for the providing counseling and support services for victims and survivors of sexual assault.

 

They also provide counseling services for children and adults who have problematic sexualized behaviours. 

 

 

Typical Job Duties

• Provide crisis care services to victims and survivors of sexual assault

• Provide counseling therapy and support to children with problematic sexualized behaviours

• Assess the needs of service user

• Facilitate the development of self-help and support networks for victims and survivors of sexual assault

• Provide victims and survivors with information regarding court and legal procedures, protective services and health care issues

• Maintain strict client confidentiality
