Speech Therapist Job Description

Speech therapists are responsible for preventing, assessing, diagnosing and treating speech, language, voice and fluency disorders among children and adults.

Typical Job Duties

• Participate in research studies and public education activities

• Consult with educators and caregivers regarding speech and language stimulation and communication strategies

• Teach communication strategies to children and adults experiencing communication disorders

• Educate and supervise students and support personnel

• Design and implement augmentative and alternative communication strategies and devices

• Work with professionals from other disciplines in order to assess clients

• Develop treatment plans for clients
