Pastor Job Description

A Pastor is responsible for providing spiritual and pastoral leadership to the members of the Church.

 

A Pastor teaches, preaches, administers the Sacraments and gives primary leadership in the ministries of worship, outreach, stewardship and administration. The Pastor also serves as the chief administrator of the congregation.

 

 

Typical Duties

• Preach the Word of God and administer the Sacraments on a regular basis

• Plan and lead worship in collaboration with the minister of music and the other pastors

• Oversee the administration and management of all areas of the congregation’s ministry

• Liaise with the Board of Property to ensure that the church facilities are well maintained

• Support, supervise and evaluate the staff of the congregation

• Participate in the screening and hiring of ordained and non-ordained staff

• Hold regular staff meetings to coordinate the ministries of the church
