Art Librarian Job Description

Art librarians are responsible for organizing and providing access to information on the visual arts. They also promote public awareness of the arts to students, teachers, scholars, curators, artists and others. 

 

Art Librarian Job Duties

• Organize and catalogue subject-specific collections and newly acquired information and materials

• Provide specialized reference and research services

• May catalogue slides for a university art department

• May conduct database research on behalf of museum curators

• Create and maintain websites that provide information relevant to art and art history

• Handle, store and retrieve materials of various formats, including the printed page, slides, film, video, and electronic media
