Deportation Officer Job Description

Deportation officers are responsible for detaining and monitoring non-citizens who have been ordered to leave a host country.  They must oversee the deportation process from the time of the order of the deportation to the time when the non-citizen actually leaves the country.

 

Deportation Officer Job Duties

• Liaise with other immigration office team members, attorneys and customs officers

• Liaise with other governmental departments that deal with regulating immigration and nationality matters

• Help identify, locate and apprehend uncooperative non-citizens

• Prepare and present information used in deportation proceedings and exclusion hearings

• Consult with foreign consulates and embassies in order to ensure that the deportee is issued proper documentation upon their return to their home country

• May be required to escort the deportee out of the country, as per the details of the deportation order
