Prison wardens oversee the administration, day-to-day operations, finances and long term goals of adult correctional facilities.

Typical Job Duties

• Ensure that prison is supplied with adequate clothing, food and other necessary goods

• Oversee the administration of educational and rehabilitative programs for inmates

• Develop and implement long term goals for the prison and the rehabilitation of its inmates

• Ensure the security of the general public, staff and inmates

• Oversee the training of correctional officers and supervisors

• Ensure efficient allocation of prison funds

• May prepare press releases and public statements
