Casting Director Job Description

Casting directors are responsible for auditioning actors and actresses for particular roles in film or television productions. Directors and producers have the final say with regards to which actor or actress is cast for which role.

 

 

Casting Director Job Duties

• Review the promotional materials of performers, such as photographs, production credits and demo reels

• Review the script in order to prepare a breakdown of the nature of each role that needs to be cast

• Distribute specific role information to talent agencies and self-represented performers

• Pre-screen candidates and make decisions regarding which performers will be asked to audition for which role

• Schedule call-backs for those performers which the producers and director wish to see more of

• Negotiate performance contracts between the performer or their representative and the production company
