Sound editors are responsible for managing and overseeing the creative direction of the audio crew for a film or television production.

 

Sound editors liaise with the director, editor and producer to ensure that their work is in line with the vision and direction of the production.

 

 

Typical Job Duties

• Liaise with the sound and/or musical director to oversee the recording, mixing and creation of soundtracks and musical scores for a film or television production

• Oversee sound generation, background noise and ambiance creation

• Oversee the overdubbing process where actors recreate their spoken lines from a film shoot in a controlled environment, such as a studio

• Oversee the creative use of a variety of objects to create believable, focused sounds specifically tailored to the visuals on-screen, such as gun shots
