Elections officers are responsible for planning and organizing the delivery of access to voting for elections at any level of government. In order to accomplish their goals, they must effectively manage human and financial resources.

 

 

Typical Job Duties

• Ensure that voters are registered at the correct officially designated address by reviewing the electoral district’s addressing information

• Identify areas for targeted revision, such as new residential developments

• Consult with political parties to establish and revise polling division boundaries

• Develop action plans for outreach to target populations within specific electoral districts

• Recruit, train and support electoral office staff and volunteers

• Identify local suppliers and negotiate with them for the rental of furniture and equipment, the purchase of sundry supplies, and printing services

• Provide recommendations concerning the improvement of the electoral process

• Communicates information to the public, candidates, political parties, field liaison officers and appropriate government agencies
