Cultural Administrator Job Description

A cultural administrator is responsible for assisting in the preservation of a culture’s heritage by performing administrative functions on behalf of the arts community or as an employee of a museum or a publishing company. Cultural administrators must understand and appreciate culture while looking after the business side of an organization.

• Plan, organize, lead, supervise and monitor activities within the not-for-profit and for-profit arts, heritage and cultural industries sector

• Market the organization and its products

• Delegate tasks to other employees

• Perform basic office duties such as bookkeeping and maintaining files

• Oversee the budget and operate within its parameters

• Manage fundraising and development
